Dear Canadian Beekeepers,

We recently received funding from the Canadian Honey Council (CHC) to study the genetics of Canadian Honey Bees.  We plan to analyze the DNA of 1000 honey bee workers from across the country to learn about the ancestry and levels of genetic diversity in our bee stocks.  We are counting on the help of Canadian beekeepers to send us a few dead and preserved workers from their bee yard.

The collected data will be submitted to a scientific journal and summarized in the CHC’s Hivelights.  The data will be summarized over broad geographic regions and the names of participating beekeepers will not be published.

If you are interested in participating in the study, please fill out the form below (or send us your address via email honeybee@yorku.ca).  We will mail you a package containing a collection vial, collection instructions, and a prepaid return envelope.

Thanks and we greatly appreciate your support,
