The bees arrive!
I spent the day driving royalty across the province! Clement and I picked up nucleus colonies nearby London, Ontario, and drove them back to our Research Apiary north of Toronto. Clement, Jen and I then spent a few hours moving the bees into our hives and making sure they were well fed. The queens, workers and drones made it safely and are happy in their new home. This officially starts the first bee season for the Zayed lab 🙂 Long live the queen!
OK, who is that behind the smoke screen?! It must be Jen but big money has been bet so…I want to know if I should be looking for a paint spot on the back of bees that visit our bee-friendly small back ark? Congratulations,…and I expect to know what honey flow is occurring on a weekly basis!
Gene
Thanks Gene. Jen is behind the smoke screen… it adds to the drama of the moment!
Now, did you notice that I am not wearing any gloves! – the beekeeper’s badge of honour!
Exciting! Yay for the first bee season! I like the space suites, hope they bring some keen undergrad helpers!
Congratulations Amro! You’ve come a long way since out time together as undergrads in the Packer lab. Good luck. I look forward to reading about your successes in the near future.
Thanks Man!
Way to Go Amro–have a great season; hope ‘beesness’ is bountiful!
